What This Site Does
Florida treats most jail and inmate information as public. The law is on your side. The hard part is almost never whether a record exists. It is knowing which agency holds the person and which tool lists them, because the answer changes depending on where someone is in the process.
There are three main systems, and they do not overlap. The Glades County Sheriff's Office runs the local jail roster, which covers people held before trial and those serving short county sentences. The Florida Department of Corrections runs a separate statewide locator for prisoners who have been sentenced to state time. People held on federal charges or immigration matters do not appear in either one; they show up in the Bureau of Prisons locator or in ICE systems instead. Send a name through the wrong tool and it can look like the person vanished, when really you just checked the wrong list.
